Laricine larch

For several Nordic peoples, larch was considered a mystical tree that allowed connections between stars and subterranean worlds. Those responsible for the rituals entered into symbiosis with larch to explore the sky and the underground world in order to communicate with the missing. This may be explained by the fact that its crown sometimes rises up to 45 meters in height, by the staggered appearance evoked by the arrangement of its branches as well as by its tortuous roots that are sometimes visible.

Conifers have a habit of keeping their needles, even during the cold season. Larch is an exception to this rule. Each fall, he takes on golden colors and then takes off his clothes completely to face winter. Its needles are the thinnest and most fragile of the conifers in Quebec. They are so fragile that if they did not fall, they would all be damaged in the first cold. Losing its needles is an additional protection that allows it to be able to colonize the coldest habitats on the planet.
