With the sweet and delicate aroma of its flowers and heart-shaped leaves, linden has long been associated with truth and love in several countries. It was common to find tall linden trees in the center of certain villages. Some of them even exceeded the venerable age of 1000! These places served as a space for social gatherings, weddings, as well as places to create laws and issue court verdicts.
Native to eastern Canada and the United States, American linden is easily recognizable in spring thanks to its magnificent, very aromatic flowers, sometimes white, sometimes yellowish or even pinkish. Its flowers are very important for pollinators who wake up in spring. Lime is a fast-growing species, which makes its wood, even today, one of the most used in sculpture. In the forest, it is not uncommon to encounter linden groves composed of one or more mature specimens surrounded by smaller stems. At maturity, linden trees have branches with an irregular, zigzagging and remarkable appearance.
This tree represents candor and loyalty.
